Can CBD Oil Improve Your Memory?

Many people believe that marijuana use is associated with short-term memory loss. And indeed, practice shows that people who use marijuana have impaired memory, which is due to the fact that cannabis has an adverse effect on brain cells. Nevertheless, science has made a revolutionary discovery, with the help of which it will completely turn people's idea about hemp plants and the effect of their use.

Although it may sound absurd to many, the active cannabinoids contained in hemp plants actually have the potential to protect the brain from environmental damage and thereby improve memory. Although the evidence for this is currently limited, there is a growing body of research showing that CBD oil, the non-psychoactive product extracted using a special technology from the hemp plant, can do just that.

Cognitive decline, which is the scientific term for memory loss, is one of the biggest fears of people over the age of 50. Thanks to the ever-increasing role of harmful environmental factors such as stress, anxiety and excessive fatigue in the life of modern man, cognitive decline is observed in an increasing number of young people. As memory loss is the first sign of an increased risk of developing a debilitating form of dementia such as Alzheimer's disease, the rise in cognitive decline among the young is becoming a real problem.

For this reason, it is necessary for each of us to learn more about the medicinal potential of CBD oil, including its effect on memory. However, whether it is the memory loss of Alzheimer's disease or some other form of dementia or the first stage of overall memory decline, there is scientific research that indicates that hemp oil has the potential to stimulate normal brain function and thus improving memory.

So, rather than impairing memory, it appears that hemp plants may have the exact opposite effect and even protect the brain from age-related memory loss.

Although many people believe that marijuana use is necessarily associated with memory loss, this is not entirely true. It turns out that the negative effect it causes on short-term memory is solely due to the psychoactive THC it contains. The active cannabinoids contained in it, on the other hand, have a completely different effect and can even improve it.

Research has been conducted that shows that with the help of another, non-psychoactive and completely harmless, product extracted from hemp plants using a specially developed technology, humanity may be able to successfully combat cognitive decline. This is due to the fact that CBD oil affects the cannabinoid receptors in a different way than marijuana, and in particular THC.

Another reason for the growing interest in hemp oil in the field is that it has already been scientifically proven to help people who suffer from neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's that affect memory. On this basis, many researchers suggest that its potential in the field is even greater and cannabidiol could improve overall memory.

Studies that CBD oil can improve memory

A study published in the Journal of Pharmacology found that CBD oil stimulates neurogenesis, the growth and development of neurons, which effectively reduces the risk of cognitive decline. In it, mice were injected with an induced form of Alzheimer's disease, then given daily CBD therapy for three weeks. At the end of this period, the data were summarized, and according to the results, hemp oil was effective in overcoming the cognitive deficit in the mice.

Another study found that eight months of cannabidiol intake helped prevent the development of cognitive deficits in social cognition. In addition, scientists are investigating the neuroprotective properties of the product, concluding that it can reduce brain damage caused by various traumas.

This is also confirmed by a special study conducted using different models of brain damage. Its results showed that CBD oil increased the number of viable brain cells while reducing the number of damaged ones by more than 50 percent. The researchers hypothesize that a reason for the observed neuroprotective effect is due to the interaction between the active cannabinoids contained in the hemp oil and the CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system.

Cannabidiol's action on the CB2 receptor leads to the induction of an anti-inflammatory response in the brain's immune cells, thus successfully reducing the extent of damage caused by inflammation. Since oxidation is another major cause of brain damage and is partly responsible for brain damage in diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, scientists are investigating the effect of cannabidiol use on this process as well. At the end of the study, they found that thanks to its interaction with the CB2 receptor, hemp oil also successfully reduced oxidative damage in the brain.

And while it seems that the effect of using CBD oil in the field could not be greater, a study conducted by Australian researchers refutes this assumption. It consists of administering CBD therapy to rats previously infected with a rodent model of schizophrenia. Its results show that at the end of the treatment, the subjects registered a significant improvement in both their working memory and their cognitive skills.

Despite the large number of studies that confirm the enormous medical potential of CBD oil in the field, there are still scientists who believe that it does not affect memory in a physically healthy person. For example, a group of researchers analyzed data from 27 scientific articles published in medical journals and devoted to the way hemp oil affects cognitive functions in a number of diseases.

They concluded that in each case, cannabidiol successfully improved memory in diseases such as meningitis, sepsis, Alzheimer's disease, stroke, and even cognitive deficits caused by marijuana use. However, they concluded that cannabidiol had an effect only in the presence of a decline in brain activity, meaning that no visible effect on the state of the healthy brain was observed.

For this reason, these and some other scientists continue to believe that CBD oil can contribute to improving memory only if the brain has been affected by one of the above diseases and does not improve memory in the physically healthy person.

What is the conclusion?

Under the influence of harmful environmental factors, more and more young people are affected by memory loss. Since this is the first sign of the increased risk of a number of serious neurodegenerative diseases, many ordinary people and scientists are trying to find an innovative means to effectively deal with memory loss.

Due to the fact that CBD oil is a completely pure and non-psychoactive product, whose neuroprotective properties have been proven in diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, more and more scientists believe that in the future it will become an official method of dealing with the loss of memory.

However, research in the field is still limited, and there are researchers who continue to deny the existence of beneficial effects from the use of hemp oil in the field. Whatever the truth, however, it is important to know that cannabidiol is completely harmless and anyone experiencing cognitive deficits would do well to try the alternative.
